Approximately 21.5% of the total volume constitutes Pakistan’s largest export market, as stated by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) in the United States.

ISLAMABAD: General Syed Asim Munir, COAS — who is on an official visit to the US — discussed matters of bilateral interests, global and regional security issues and ongoing conflicts in meetings with key US government and military officials.

According to the military’s media wing, General Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), engaged with key US government and military officials during his ongoing visit to the US. His discussions included meetings with Antony J Blinken, Secretary of State, General Lloyd J Austin (retired), Secretary of Defence, Victoria Nuland, Deputy Secretary of State, Jonathan Finer, Deputy National Security Adviser, and General Charles Q Brown, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Both parties reached an agreement to sustain their engagement, exploring potential avenues for bilateral collaboration in pursuit of shared interests.

In discussions with defense officials, counterterrorism cooperation and defense collaboration emerged as focal points for mutual cooperation. Both sides expressed their commitment to increasing interaction and finding ways to broaden the scope of mutually beneficial engagements.

Emphasizing the importance of comprehending each other’s perspectives on regional security issues, the COAS particularly highlighted the significance of resolving the Kashmir Issue in accordance with international law and relevant UNSC resolutions.

The COAS also engaged with the Pakistani overseas community, meeting members at a reception hosted by the Embassy of Pakistan. He commended the positive role played by the Pakistani overseas community in the country’s progress and development.

During these interactions, a variety of topics were discussed, and the COAS expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Pakistani diaspora. He encouraged diaspora members to invest through SIFC, which has already seen success in various dimensions.

The COAS emphasized that the US is Pakistan’s largest export market, constituting 21.5% of total exports, dispelling rumors about special screening, visa denials, and detentions.

Highlighting the esteemed status of the Pakistani diaspora worldwide, the army chief acknowledged their role as ambassadors of Pakistan, making significant contributions across various domains.

Members of the Pakistani community expressed pride in the role and contributions of the Pakistan Army to the well-being of Pakistan.

The COAS extended good wishes to the entire Pakistani community in their endeavors. Additionally, he met with Tanweer Ahmed, who generously donated $9 million for NUST in the field of IT development in Pakistan. The COAS commended him, stating that Pakistan is proud to have heroes like him.
